At the young age of 17, in the year 1953, Shri Amar Gopalani embarked on his Literary journey with the story writings. Even now at the age of 85, he is still going strong with his remarkable compositions.
Shri Gopalani was a co-editor of the handwritten Sindhi Literary Magazine "Mehran" launched in the year 1953. He was also the editor of the handwritten magazine named "Chandni" in the year 1956. In the same year, he formed a youth organisation named "Friends Club". He was the president of the club and an active member of the comittee too. Shri Gopalani was the founding member of ‘Indore Sindhi Adabi Sangat’.
He writes regularly for the ‘Hindu Daily Ajmer’, ‘Hindvasi’ weekly, monthly editions of ‘Akhand Sindhu Sansar’, ‘Rishtan Jo sansar’ etc. Nearly 36 stories written by shri Gopalani had been published in the magazine, ‘Sindhu Mehak’ edited by Late Teja.
Some of the stories written by him were broadcasted on Akashvani, Indore. A satirical character created by Shri Chand Kishan Gopalani of Ahmedabad and his series named Kalumal-Balumal formed the basis of a 13 episode long teleserial broadcasted on TV.
His creative literature ‘Kalumal- Balumal part 2’ was felicitated with the Best creation award by the Madhya Pradesh Sindhi Sahitya Academy in the year 2016. In the year 2017-18, the Rashtriya Sindhi Basha Vikas Parishad honored him with the literary award for his book "Dangu".

अमर गोपालानी ने १९५३ में मात्र १७ साल की उम्र में कहानी लेखन से अपने साहित्य सुजन की शरुआत की एवं आज ८५ साल की उम्र में भी रचना कर्म निरंतर जारी है
श्री गोपालानी ने १९५३ में शुरू हस्तलिखित सिन्धी साहित्यक पत्रिका 'महराण' का सहसम्पादन किया एवं १९५६ में हस्तलिखित पत्रिका 'चांदनी' का संपादन किया। उन्होंने इसी साल युवाओं की संस्था 'फ्रेंड्स क्लब' की स्थापना की। वे इस क्लब के अध्यक्ष रहे एवं पंचायत में भी सक्रिय रहे। श्री गोपालानी 'इंदौर सिन्धी अदबी सांगत' के संस्थापक सदस्य हैं।
हिन्दू डेली अजमेर, हिन्दवासी साप्ताहिक, मासिक अखण्ड सिंधू संसार, रिश्तन जो संसार के लिए नियमित रूप से लिखते रहते है। स्वर्गीय तेजा द्वारा सम्पादित पत्रिका 'सिंधु महक' में गोपालानीजी की ३६ कहानियां प्रकाशित हो चुकी हैं।
उनकी कुछ कहानियां आकाशवाणी, इंदौर से भी प्रसारित हुई हैं। अहमदाबाद के चांदकिशन गोपालानी द्वारा रचित व्यंग्य पात्र एवं उनकी श्रृंखला कलूमल-बलूमल पर टी.वी. सीरियल का निर्माण हुआ जिसके १३ एपीसोड टेलीकास्ट हुए।
उनकी कृति ' कलूमल-बलूमल भाग - 2' पर मध्यप्रदेश सिन्धी साहित्य अकादमी ने २०१६ में श्रेष्ठ कृति पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया। २०१७- २०१८ में "डंगु" किताब पर राष्ट्रीय सिन्धी भाषा विकास परिषद ने साहित्यक अवार्ड से उन्हे सम्मानित किया।
